Susan B. Anthony was a suffragist, abolitionist, author, speaker, and President of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. She was one of the main leaders in women's rights movement in the U.S. in the 19th century.
She traveled, lectured, and journeyed across the nation to gain support for women's rights and the abolition of slavery. Her tireless work and dedication helped create the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote in 1920, 14 years after her death.
"I declare to you that woman must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my stand."
